Essentials of Management is
a program series designed to help business persons acquire basic knowledge of
business in English. “Accounting Concepts and Financial Statements”, one course
in this series, focuses on developing accounting knowledge from basic concepts
to financial statement analysis at the MBA level in English. This course consists
of seven lecture programs. The first program introduces the accounting framework
and basic accounting concepts. Programs two, three and four deal with reading
and understanding the Financial Statements: Balance Sheet, Income Statement and
Cash Flow Statement. The fifth lecture program focuses on the tools needed to
analyze the financial statements. The sixth program presents a comprehensive case
study and instructs on how to apply the principles and concepts learned up to
this point. Lastly, the seventh program instructs on slightly more advanced topics
e.g., International Accounting Standards, or IAS; differences between accounting
systems in certain countries; more advanced topics used in preparing financial
statements; and useful sources for finding financial information.
